June 28, 2021: Reynolds v. Florida Youth Plaintiffs File Comments on Draft Rule
Several of the youth plaintiffs in Reynolds v. Florida filed comments on the Florida Public Service Commission’s (PSC) draft rule to establish energy efficiency goals that will influence Florida energy policy for the next ten years. The youth are joining other Floridians, led by Energy Smart, who are advocating for the PSC to modernize Florida’s outdated energy saving policies while reducing electricity bills and increasing access to energy-saving programs for low income communities.
May 3, 2011: Petition for Rulemaking Filed
OCT partner Attorney Brett Paben filed a petition for rulemaking with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on behalf of Florida youth and the organization, Kids vs. Global Warming.
June 6, 2011: Petition Denied
The State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection filed a denial of the petition for rulemaking. However, the petition succeeded in raising awareness in the state about the scientific remedies necessary to address climate change and educated state officials about their duty to protect the atmosphere.
